Words of the People welcomes artists, language workers, educators, and community members to its fourth annual Rematriation Retreat, a free, public gathering focused on the theme “Language as Resistance.” Taking place April 10–12, 2026 at the TCC Mckeon Center for Creativity in downtown Tulsa, the retreat explores how language, art, and cultural practice intersect.
About the Retreat

Words of the People supports the growth of Indigenous language creatives through community-led programming and opportunities that foster artistic production, community leadership, and land-based language practices. WTP hosts Indigenous Language Creative Writing Workshops and Rematriation workshops in Tulsa, OK, working to normalize Indigenous language creative production and rematriation as a movement.
