Waleze (Markings) Open June 21

Hawe!

Waleze (Markings): Wahzhazhe ie poetic forms is an Indigenous language-inspired visual art show that will open at TAF’s Flagship space June 21 through August 10, featuring works by Osage artists meditating upon Waleze, the Wahzhazhe ie word for the written Osage language, as well as the Wahzhazhe ie word for “photos,” “designs,” “patterns,” “books,” and “markings.”

This multidisciplinary show of Waleze (Markings) includes literary as well as multi-media visual works and promotes co-creation in and around the Osage language of Wahzhazhe ie. This show is not run through or sponsored by Words of the People, but we are sharing it, as Chelsea T. Hicks is conducting the exhibition as part of a larger effort to gain experience organizing visual art shows around Indigenous language. One purpose of doing so is to be able for her to support future Words of the People shows.

Please join the artists of Waleze (Markings) for an opening reception June 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. and also for First Fridays Aug. 2.

Organized by Chelsea T. Hicks & supported by the Artistic Innovations Grant
