After the bad news of event cancellations and loss due to Oklahoma weather, Words of the People is hoping to bring a bright spot into your summer planning and schedules. With Abalone Mountain Press, we are calling for submissions of Indigenous language creative writing, open now through August 10, 2024. Preference will be given to all-Indigenous language pieces which have accompanying English language translations.

In other news, an update on the rescheduling of our Woody Guthrie open mic night is forthcoming, as we are waiting to hear back from the venue after reaching out.
