Join WTP at AWP 2/7/24!

You are invited to join Words of the People at the 2024 AWP conference in Kansas City, Missouri. Words of the People will host a reading on the first night of the conference, on Wednesday, February 7 from 7:30-9 p.m., featuring work by Indigenous writers who create in their their ancestral, Indigenous languages. In additional news, Words of the People will host an Open Mic Night this spring at the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, OK. The event will be in April, date TBD. Indigenous language writers are invited to submit poems to be featured WTP writers presenting at the open mic. The deadline to submit is by January 6, 2024.

Submit your ancestral language poetry or songs to wtpgathering@gmail.com by Jan. 6 for a chance to win two tickets to see Joyce Carol Oates speak at the Woody Guthrie Center on February 17; please use the subject line “Woody Guthrie Open Mic” when submitting your two Indigenous language poems. Preference will be given to work incorporating maximal Indigenous language usages.
